Previous Work

My interest lies principally in applying transgenic technologies in combination with electrophysiology to understand the development and function of neural networks. One major stumbling block in investigating vertebrate, and in particular mammalian neuronal networks, is the identification of specific cell types. Recent advances in genetics have made it possible to target specific neuronal populations more effectively and thus reveal principles behind network organization in more complex systems - a fundamental step towards treating neuropatholgies.
